T-2 Days

Bit of a longer one today, with both updates from Andy and Sam:

From Andy:
More bag packing today as we finalise everything for the trip which includes a couple of weeks R&R in Brisbane post competition of our ride.

Last gym session for me and last leg massage in a hope that muscles will relax following semi intense training schedule.

Now just waiting for the shuttle to take us to the airport for stage 1 trip to Auckland before the big flight to Adelaide tomorrow.

Yeehah!

From Sam:
Packing my bike for a ten-day cycling adventure is no small task. With only one night left to pack, I am feeling the pressure to disassemble everything on my bike and fit it into my compact bag. Ensuring that our bikes are safely transported to Adelaide for the start of the ride is critical.

The first step in the packing process is to disassemble the bike. This includes removing the derailleur, handlebars, stem, forks, and wheels. It's important to keep track of all the small parts and ensure that they are bubble wrapped and securely packed to avoid any damage during the flight. I also make sure to pack all the tools needed to reassemble the bike so that we won't be left stranded without them.

As I work through the packing process, my family and kids help cross off items from the gear checklist. With their support, I pack my clothing around the bike parts to provide added protection and to save space. I am grateful for their help, as it's a daunting task to pack a bike on my own.

One of the challenges I face during the packing process is the limited space in the bike bag. It's a puzzle to fit all the parts together and ensure that everything is snugly packed. I double-check everything to ensure that nothing is loose or could potentially break during the flight.

Despite the challenges, I am feeling excited and nervous about the adventure ahead. It's not every day that I get to explore some more of the remote Australian landscape on a bike, and I am eager to see what the journey has in store for us. The thought of cycling through the breathtaking scenery and spotting the first kangaroo is both exhilarating and nerve-wracking.

As I aim to get a good night's sleep before the flight to Adelaide, I am filled with anticipation for what's to come. I am grateful for the opportunity to embark on this adventure with my father and teammate, and I am ready to tackle whatever challenges lie ahead. With the  bike safely packed and gear checked off the list, Iā€™m ready to start this journey of a lifetime.

See you tomorrow Andy!
