TA Day 13 Apiti to Paihiatua

Distance 102km, Elevation Gain ~2000m

An early start today With breakfast being served at 7am in the Makoura Lodge. To our surprise chef mad red tricked us with full English instead of continental so the TA riders started the day well norished. A quick blast down hill from the lodge saw us facing a rather steep uphill that went on forever. Then came a day of ups and downs but gradually down in the direction of Palmerston North.
One treat along the way in Ponangina was a food and drink station hosted by TA famous Mary what a beautiful angel with a spread of muffins biscuits fruit and drinks.
Plowing on we descended into Ashurst then into the Manawatu River cycle path and all the way to Palmy. A quick left and we were grinding up the Paihiatua Track which once completed saw us having a pint or three at the Post Office Hotel.
Lucky for us Alastair had arranged lunch, dinner, an overnight stay and pickup return with very good friends. After a wonderful evening time to reflect on today’s events and a good nights kip.
