TA day 2: Ahipara to kauri coast holiday park
Distance 142km, Elevation Gain 2566m
142km with some massive hills. After an hour and a half on the road, we hit a great gravel section before stopping for the ferry to Rawene for lunch at the Boat Shed Cafe. Then onward to Omapere and a big decision on whether we should tackle the hills or stay put. Staying would have meant tomorrow would be a massive day to make our pre booked ferry at Pluto Point, but we decided to truck on. Rain for the last 30km so we finished like drowned rats. Happy to have done our biggest ride ever. Time to setup the tent in the dark and sleep.
