TA Day 9: Taumaranui to Whakahoro
Distance 64km, Elevation Gain 1087m
With a relatively short day today we could afford to relax a little and take our time. After a few kilometres of sealed road we spent the rest of the day on back country gravel roads. To sum it up hot and dusty.
Strangest sight today was a lone ostrich waiting for the obvious photo opportunity! Beautiful scenery with steep gullies, the Whanganui river, the Retaruke and views of Ruapehu.
Arrived Blue Duck Station around 3:30 so time to relax and wait for dinner.
Curry dinner at the station cafe with about 30 other cyclists. Some still arriving late in evening, others back on the saddle for some night riding over to Bridge to Nowhere to catch jet boat.
